Vegan
What is veganism?
The word “vegan” was coined in 1944 by Donald Watson, when he and others founded the Vegan Society in England. A vegan is someone who does not eat or use animal products. This includes meat , poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, and honey. Vegans do not use products that have been tested on animals.
There are many benefits to becoming a vegan, both physically and emotionally. Some of the most significant benefits of veganism include:
1. You’ll Reduce Your Risk of Serious Health Conditions
A recent study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people who consume a vegan diet are significantly less likely to develop heart disease, stroke, cancer, and type 2 diabetes than those who eat a diet high in animal products.
2. You’ll Reduce Your Environmental Impact
A vegan lifestyle is one of the most sustainable choices you can make when it comes to the environment. By choosing to avoid animal products, you’ll reduce the amount of land, water, and energy that is used to produce these products.
3. You’ll Enjoy Better Health on a Budget
If you are concerned about your budget, consider becoming a vegan. A vegan diet is typically lower in cost than a diet high in animal products. In
fact, a vegan diet can be cheaper than some of the most expensive health care options available.
4. You’ll Help Animals Live Humanely
One of the main reasons why many people choose to become vegan is because they believe that animals should not be exploited for their flesh, skin, or eggs. By choosing to become vegan, you are helping to protect animals from being treated in this way.
5. You’ll Feel Better Knowing That You’re Doing Something Good for the World
Becoming a vegan is one of the simplest things you can do to help improve the world around you. By choosing to avoid animal products, you are reducing the amount of suffering that animals experience.
